The MAKEATHON continues its journey around the world. Earlier this year, a Botswana delegation took part in the SMART GREEN ISLAND MAKEATHON 2023 on Gran Canaria and was able to see the successful concept for themselves. As a result, a Botswana MAKEATHON will now be held for the second time in Gaborone, in the fall of 2023. Together with local partners such as the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology, and the University of Botswana, ITQ GmbH is supporting the Botswana team with two experienced coaches in the preparations and implementation of the innovation festival on site.
During the three-day MAKEATHON from October 24 to 26, 2023, young talents will work on various technical projects in the fields of Green Technologies and Smart Agriculture. There will also be Challenges in the field of Machine Vision, where participants can use the tools of our partner MVTec. The MAKEATHON and emerging project ideas are intended to advance the topic of digitalization and pave the way for a new culture of innovation in the country.
ITQ GmbH brought the innovation festival to Africa four years ago: already in 2019, the first MAKEATHONS took place in Botswana, SMART GREEN BOTSWANA MAKEATHON, as well as in Tunisia, SMART GREEN TUNISIA MAKEATHON.
